“The Carson Scholars Fund didn’t move me toward a specific path, but encouraged me to blaze my own!”
-Five-time Carson Scholar Emily Wolf, Penn State University
Raised by parents who emigrated from Haiti, Edwitch Merisier has been instilled with the desire to learn. Edwitch’s father taught him early on that “without a good education, it is nearly impossible to succeed in life.” A willing and able reader, Edwitch uses his strong work ethic to apply this motto to his life. His drive and desire to learn has made an impact on his peers and teachers. Edwitch’s teacher said of his abilities, “Edwitch pushes himself to succeed for the satisfaction of doing his personal best, rather than working to earn some sort of extrinsic reward.” This young man is a great example of what it takes not only to succeed, but to become a Carson Scholar!
