Congratulations Pine Island Elementary and Veterans Elementary – you are the Carson Scholars Fund’s Second Annual Ball Drop winners!

We hope you’ve been working on your application to renew your Carson Scholar status! The postmark deadline for previous scholar applications is January 10, 2011.

That's the only way to describe the wonderful event that took place at Martin's Valley Mansion in Hunt Valley on December 7.  Mike McCrary, former Raven #99, who played in the Superbowl twice, and Dr. Ben Carson were there sharing their autographs, while Maryland Sings and The Roland Park Country School Semiquavers entertained the crowd with fun dances and gaily sang holiday music!

The Carson Scholars Fund staff has been working hard to prepare for December’s premiere shopping event: Shop for Our Scholars.

The DC Metro Chapter of the Carson Scholars Fund is holding its first annual gala. This elegant event will be held on December 9th from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the New Zealand Embassy, 37 Observatory Circle, NW, Washington DC.

Applications for the Carson Scholars Fund 2011 scholarship cycle, as well as for the 2011 Previous Scholar Recognition Package, are on their way! You should receive your application by 11/24/10.

Today students around the country will celebrate the 5th Annual Ben Carson Reading Day. The event, held in conjunction with American Education Week is designed to raise awareness of the importance of reading and to promote reading for pleasure.
