Atlanta and West Coast THINK BIG Winners!

After long deliberation, we have the winners from our Atlanta/Chattanooga and West Coast editions of THINK BIG.

From our Atlanta/Chattanooga contest the winner is Sheryl Sellaway. Sheryl correctly identified 30 out of 46 THINK BIG names. Sheryl is the Executive Director of Public Relations for the south area of Verizon Wireless.

West Coast Scholars Take Over the Discovery Science Center

CSF and Union Bank hosted the 3rd Annual West Coast Awards Ceremony at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, California on Thursday, May 10th. With scholars ranging from Alaska to Idaho, the event honored 26 new and 27 recognized Carson Scholars.

Guests marveled at the various displays including gravity, tornadoes, waves, and currents as well as an enormous dinosaur model.

A New Chapter in Johnsonburg!

A new chapter began for the students of Johnsonburg Area Elementary School who opened their Ben Carson Reading Room on Monday, April 30th.

The school unveiled its new reading room, sponsored by Domtar, as a bright and cheerful environment that will provide a wonderful place for students to become engrossed in a book.

New Beginnings in Chicago

What an exciting day in Chicago! On Saturday, April 21st, Chicago held its inaugural Carson Scholars Awards Banquet. Celebrating the accomplishments of 26 new and 10 recognized scholars for their stellar academic achievements and community involvement, it was truly a day to remember!

Dr. Sandy Goldberg from WNBC 5 News hosted the event. She introduced Brenda Arteaga, 8th grader and 2012 Carson Scholar, who led the Pledge of Allegiance.

May 7th

Pittsburgh Reaches New Heights

Pittsburgh celebrated its 8th Annual Carson Scholars Awards Banquet on Sunday, April 22nd. With nearly 600 people in attendance, this was the Pittsburgh Chapter’s largest banquet to date.

At the event, 91 new Carson Scholars and 138 previous Carson Scholars received recognition for their academic achievements and humanitarian qualities.

May 2nd

A Decade with Battle Creek

The 10th Annual Battle Creek Awards Banquet honored 37 new Carson Scholars and 20 previous Carson Scholars for their high academic achievement and humanitarian qualities.

On Friday, April 20th, nearly 400 people were in attendance including Carson Scholars, parents, teachers, and community members.

An Inspirational Day in Maryland

This past Sunday, nearly 1,200 people gathered for the 16th Annual Maryland Awards Banquet. The event honored 114 new and 373 recognized Carson Scholars from Maryland and throughout the Mid-Atlantic. This year’s scholars are truly an impressive group, and we were thrilled to meet so many of them this weekend!

April 30th

THINK BIG and Win BIG

As promised, we have the winners from the THINK BIG contest last night at the Maryland Awards Banquet. After counting and recounting the winners are Joseph Noszek and Samuel Newmier! Congratulations!

It seems that they teamed up and thought BIG! Together, they correctly identified 27 out of 46 THINK BIG names.

Joseph Noszek is a 2012 Carson Scholar from Delaware. Samuel Newmier is a three-time Carson Scholar from Maryland.

April 25th

Dr. Carson Visits Jefferson Elementary!

Dr. Ben Carson recently stopped by Jefferson Elementary in Houston to check in on the progress of their Ben Carson Reading Room. The reading room is scheduled to open in May and students are already excited with the progress.

A Full Weekend of Awards

The Carson Scholars Fund has been extremely busy! This weekend we celebrated three Awards Banquets.

Dr. and Mrs. Carson attended all three events. On Friday, Battle Creek kicked off the weekend celebrating its 10th Annual Awards Ceremony. Saturday, Chicago had its very first Awards Banquet. And Sunday, Pittsburgh held its 8th Annual Awards Banquet, which was its largest yet!
