Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, and actor Mario stopped by Dr. and Mrs. Carson’s house last week to spend an evening with the Carsons, CSF’s Executive Director Amy Warner, and CSF Board Members Lee Warner and BJ Carson. It was the first time Baltimore locals Mario and Dr. Carson met.
With summer drawing to an end, we know this weekend will be full of time with friends and family, back-to-school shopping, and finishing up those summer reading books. In the spirit of the Ben Carson Reading Project, everyone at the Carson Scholars Fund has done quite a bit of leisure reading this summer. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve read. We hope it serves as inspiration to pick up a good book this weekend!
As the 2012-2013 school year begins, the Carson Scholars Fund has exciting news. We are pleased to announce the launch of our online scholarship application process, starting this fall! We’re very excited about this new system and believe that it will make the application process easier for everyone involved.
Today’s guest blogger is Rebekah Lin, CSF’s Scholarship Director. Coincidentally, she’s also the person to email if you want to be a guest blogger – she can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org!
The 7th Annual Ben Carson Reading Day will be held on Monday, November 12th. Ben Carson Reading Day is an annual literacy event held each November in conjunction with American Education Week. This national day of reading, supported by Staples, is designed to raise awareness on the importance of everyday leisure reading.
Starting today, we’re introducing a new series on the CSF blog: guest bloggers. About twice a month, we’ll feature blogs written by people involved with the organization in different ways – scholars, alumni, parents, staff, volunteers, board members, etc. We hope these guest bloggers can provide new insight about what it means to be a Carson Scholar, how the organization works, and how others can get involved. For our first guest blogger, we are excited to feature Andrew Greene. Andrew is a scholar alumnus who was named a Carson Scholar an amazing five times.
