Fall Scholar Payouts
A Scholar asked: "What happens now that I am graduating high school? And if all of my award is not used will it be released to me?"
Here is a brief description of our Scholar Payout Policy:
The Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. is earnest in paying out scholarships to all winners. Just prior to graduation, CSF sends a scholar payout request form to the awardee which initiates the payout process. Upon return, CSF executes the scholarship payout to the requested 4-year institution. Every attempt is made to contact and payout scholarship funds as outlined by the scholar agreement. The agreements states that the scholar may delay receipt of the scholarship award for up to three years if they indicate a reason in writing to CSF. If the scholar does not attend a four-year college within three years of graduating high school or does not respond to CSF’s requests for payout, the scholarship shall be forfeited. After the aforementioned three year period, forfeited funds are to be reinvested into the unrestricted general assets of the organization or to a specific named endowment if that was the original source. Any deviations or special requests made by a scholar, must be approved by the CSF Executive Committee whose decision is final.
Payout request letters are sent in mid-May with Fall 2010 payout awards sent to schools on August 1, 2010. Scholars must be full time enrolled and accepted students into four year colleges and universities within the United States.
Payouts are made directly to the college and can be used to cover tuition, room and board, and books. The payout cannot be applied to a flex account.
