Norwood Elementary gets a new Ben Carson Reading Room!
Baltimore – The Carson Scholars Fund and the Allegis Group are pleased to announce the grand opening of the Ben Carson Reading Room at Norwood Elementary School in Dundalk, Maryland. The grand opening ceremony will took place today at Norwood Elementary School, at 9:00 am. To commemorate the grand opening, the school held an all-school assembly featuring Norwood students celebrating in song and dance. After the ceremony, the ribbon cutting and reception immediately followed in the brand new Ben Carson Reading Room. Carson Scholars Fund Co-Founder, Mrs. Candy Carson and Dr. Joe A. Hairston, Superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools, attended the ceremony and cut the cake.
The Reading Room is designed to encourage young students and their families to discover the pleasure found in books and to recognize the true power of learning. Dr. Carson credits reading as the catalyst to his success and he hopes to share this message with students. “How wonderful that Norwood Elementary now has a Ben Carson Reading Room for students to read their favorite books anytime during the day! Reading will definitely be a worthwhile habit at our school. We can’t thank Dr. Carson and Allegis Group enough for the generous grant that made this possible! Dr. Carson’s “THINK BIG” message, will guide our students to use books and reading to prepare them for their futures as great thinkers and problem solvers,” said Principal Patrice H. Goldys. Currently there are 52 Ben Carson Reading Rooms serving students in 7 states. This is the 7th Ben Carson Reading Room sponsored by the Allegis Group.
