New books abound in the Ben Carson Reading Room at Coldstream Park Elementary Middle School.

kids readingOn Wednesday, May 25, 2011 Candy Carson visited Coldstream Park Elementary Middle School to see first-hand the new books lining the shelves in the school’s two Ben Carson Reading Rooms.  The event, dubbed “Cupcakes with Carson” spotlighted the rooms’ recent makeovers and additional reading materials.  Prior to touring the Reading Rooms, Mrs. Carson had an opportunity to meet with parents and staff members to discuss the importance of everyday leisure reading.  Mrs. Carson shared a few anecdotal stories of her boys when they were younger and their love of reading.  Before leaving the event, Mrs. Carson read Lola at the Library to a number of Coldstream Park’s “Students of the Week.”

girls readingThrough the generosity of Ober/Kaler Attorneys-at-Law, we were able to create two Ben Carson Reading Rooms at Coldstream Park Elementary/Middle School. The Reading Rooms are separated by levels, primary and intermediate. Both rooms are decorated with attractive, eye-catching artwork based on the easy to remember mnemonics of its founder, Dr. Benjamin Carson.

His “THINK BIG” philosophy of self-realization promotes academic achievement. The rooms are furnished with books, child-sized furniture, comfortable rugs, and stuffed animals. The students have a relaxing environment where they can enjoy reading.
