On Monday, November 13, 2006, the Reading Room at Westminster Elementary School, sponsored by Allegis Group, was officially opened. Westminster Elementary School was the first Carroll County School to receive a Ben Carson Reading Room.
The students of Westminster Elementary School spent 49,159 minutes this year reading in the Ben Carson Reading Room. On average, each student spent 88 minutes per week reading independently in the room. Students were also encouraged to write and illustrate their own books to add to their expansive book collection.
