Five new members join the CSF Hall of Fame!

After a brief hiatus, we are pleased to announce that the Carson Scholars Fund Hall of Fame is back!  To celebrate, five new members have been inducted into the 2024 Hall of Fame Class.  This year’s members are remarkable changemakers, history makers, and advocates.  They are champions of equal education opportunities, providing resources to vulnerable populations, vaccination awareness and utilizing technology to make a difference in peoples’ lives.  These Carson Scholar alumni epitomize what it means to be Carson Scholars and we are thrilled to have them join fellow Hall of Fame members dating back to 2016.

Matthew Dormus, a 7-time Carson Scholar, co-created The Roundtable Broadcast to facilitate, for the first time, a televised, unscripted conversation between the Seventh-day Adventist World Church President, two globally recognized spiritual leaders and one Adventist college/university student from each continent.

Hannah Guan founded the first math organization in her community when she was just eleven years old.  San Antonio Math Include (SaMi) provides greater access to STEM education to students from all cultures, social spheres or math experience levels.

Lia Haile, a 3-time Carson Scholar, founded a service initiative called Hopeful Hearts Club when she was nine years old.  The club started as a birthday club that provided personalized birthday parties for children living in her community’s homeless shelter and has now expanded to help hundreds of underserved youth and families in her community.

William Tantribeau is currently working on his Doctor of Pharmacy and proudly uses his repertoire of four languages to bridge the gap between patients and the medical community.  He has led vaccine awareness campaigns aimed to lessen the stigma around critical immunizations for children around the world.

Vedant Tapiavala uses his love for and knowledge of technology to work on large-scale humanitarian projects to make a difference for people.  In high school, he co-created an app called AlzBuddy to help early-stage Alzheimer’s patients.  He also advocates for decreasing food waste and food insecurity by serving as a director for Future Forward.

The Hall of Fame was created in 2016 as part of the CSF’s 20th anniversary celebration to honor individuals whose lives and careers are an integral part of the Fund’s history.  The mission of the Hall of Fame is to honor outstanding Carson Scholar Alumni who are representatives of the CSF’s mission: those who have demonstrated success and excellence in the work force, who have excelled academically and/or who have made significant contributions in their communities.

This year’s members join 40 fellow alumni in the Hall of Fame and will be honored at the CSF’s annual awards banquets this spring.
