The Carson Scholars Fund is Hiring!

The Carson Scholars Fund is hiring! We are looking for an enthusiastic Scholar Services Coordinator to join our team.

The Scholar Services Coordinator (full-time position) will assist with all aspects of the scholarship program, outreach to scholar alumni, and communications and marketing to all stakeholders. The Scholars Services Coordinator is the voice of the program and is required to assist with managing the scholar and alumni networks in concert with the Scholarship Director.

Another Busy Weekend

This past weekend was a star-studded weekend as we recognized and rewarded academic superstars at three Awards Banquets.

A Weekend Full of Events

The Carson Scholars Fund has been extremely busy these last couple of days!  This weekend, we opened a Reading Room and celebrated 2013 Carson Scholars at two Awards Banquets.

Board Member Spotlight: Dr. Nancy Grasmick

Dr. Nancy Grasmick joined the Carson Scholars Board of Directors in 2012, but she has been a long-time supporter of celebrating academic excellence and leadership. The State of Maryland has been honored by the leadership of Dr. Grasmick, who for 20 years served the Maryland Department of Education…longer than any other state superintendent of schools in the entire United States.

THINK BIG

There have been lots of exciting things going on in the CSF office – inspiring everyone here to “THINK BIG.”  We decided to extend some THINK BIG inspiration, so we’re sharing with you this video. Our hope is that as you watch the video – packed with many important historical figures and accompanied by the Govans Elementary School chorale group as they perform their original THINK BIG song – you are reminded and inspired to always THINK BIG.

Thank You for Your Interest and Support!

To everyone who has reached out, made a donation, or purchased merchandise the past few days:

Thank you for your kind words, encouraging thoughts, and especially your purchases and donations to the Carson Scholars Fund.  As you may well imagine we have been inundated in the most positive way since Dr. Carson’s address late last week at the National Prayer Breakfast and are responding to all information requests and processing all orders as quickly as we can.

There is no "I" in Team but there is a "u" in volunteer!

Every year, the Carson Scholars Fund processes and scores thousands of applications. We could not do this without the help of our dedicated volunteers. Last year, nearly 75 volunteers contributed over 800 hours of service, allowing us to successfully execute another scholarship season and nine scholar awards banquets. According to calculations by the Independent Sector, 800 hours of volunteer service is equivalent to $18,216! We cannot thank our volunteers enough!

CSF Office Operating on a Holiday Schedule

In celebration of the holidays, the Carson Scholars Fund office will be operating on a holiday schedule from Friday, December 21st, 2012 until Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013. During this time if you have any scholarship-related questions, please email rebekah@carsonscholars.org.

We wish you and your family a joyous holiday and a very happy new year!
