Celebrate National Day of Reading with the Carson Scholars Fund! This annual literacy event, sponsored by the William and Winifred Freeman Foundation, is held in conjunction with American Education Week, and is designed to raise awareness of the importance of everyday, leisure reading.
To celebrate, reading room school partners will show a special book narration of Finding Winnie: The True Story of the World’s Most Famous Bear by Lindsay Mattick. This New York Times Bestseller and 2016 Caldecott Medal Winner tells the remarkable story of the bear that inspired Winnie-the-Pooh. For students not attending a reading room school, the narration link is available below. In addition to the special book narration, many school partners will host local dignitaries, authors and community members who will participate by reading some of their favorite children’s books.
