On October 24, 2022, the Carson Scholars Fund (CSF) hosted its first Maryland Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Cattail Creek Country Club in Glenwood, MD. CSF Co-founder Candy Carson greeted the 85 golfers who participated in the tournament to support our programs. It was a misty but beautiful fall day on the course.

A highlight of the day was the Drone Ball Drop! Over the past few weeks, CSF supporters have been purchasing numbered ping-pong balls. Right before tee time, a drone soared high in the sky and Dr. Ben Carson counted down for the big release over the putting green.

Douglas Henry owned the lucky ball that landed closest to the hole. He was declared the grand prize winner and received an iPad Air and a Zoom call with Dr. Carson. Douglas is an educator from West Palm Beach, FL—how fitting!

Golfers played a great game, enjoyed lunch and listened to an inspiring speech from Dr. Carson. Each player also received a framed photo of their group with Dr. Carson. Participants thoroughly enjoyed the event and expressed enthusiasm about participating in future CSF Maryland charity golf tournaments.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the tournament. Because of your support, we raised over $60,000 towards our programs. What an amazing way to kick off the 2023 Scholarship Season!
