We have an exciting new opportunity for Carson Scholars who are graduating from high school in 2024! Thanks to the generosity of world-renowned author James Patterson, the Carson Scholars Fund (CSF) is launching the Patterson HBCU Scholarship pilot program with the goal of offsetting college costs and supporting the academic endeavors of Carson Scholars who plan to attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).

Upon graduating high school, Carson Scholars who are 2024 high school graduates and going to a HBCU will have the opportunity to apply for a $5,000 scholarship award that can be renewed for up to three consecutive academic years, with a maximum value of $20,000. Carson Scholars who apply for this scholarship must be entering their freshman year of college and be enrolled in a four-year bachelor’s degree track program.

Applicants will be evaluated on their leadership roles, junior year GPA and Carson Scholar Recognition status. Funding for this program is limited and not all students who apply for this scholarship are guaranteed the award.

Patterson HBCU Scholarship applications will be emailed to eligible Carson Scholars on April 1, 2024.

For details about rules, eligibility requirements and for more information regarding the Patterson HBCU Scholarship pilot program, please visit HERE or contact pattersonhbcu@carsonscholars.org.

We had the exciting opportunity to sit down with James Patterson and get his thoughts on the new scholarship. Check out what we learned!
