Meet Zoe Deese – 2025 Summer Intern

I am so excited to join the Carson Scholars Fund as an intern this summer! As a 4-time Carson Scholar, I have seen the program’s transformative impact on the lives of young students. It has opened doors for me to pursue higher education and academic opportunities. I am also beyond grateful that the program now gives me my very first job experience.

I am entering my senior year this fall. After high school, I plan to major in statistics or public health. My end goal is to combine both fields and earn a master’s degree in the field of biostatistics. In school I’ve been able to prepare for this future through my AP Statistics class. It was my favorite course I have ever taken, and I will be the teaching assistant next year! I enjoy sharing my love of math and helping students understand difficult mathematical concepts. Because of this, I also regularly tutor middle school students at a charter school in Baltimore City.

In my free time, I love to bake, read, listen to music and play soccer. I have been playing soccer for 14 years. I play for both my school’s varsity team and for a club team outside of school. My goal is to play soccer at the Division 3 level and find a school that offers competitive athletics without sacrificing academic rigor.

August Update: 

I truly enjoyed my time at the CSF. It was amazing to be surrounded by such supportive and hardworking people; it made coming to the office each day even more fun! The role also taught me valuable time management and organizational skills that I will take with me to future endeavors. I am so grateful for this experience and hope to continue working with the CSF in the future!
