The Carson Scholars Fund is proud to celebrate the official opening of two new Ben Carson Reading Rooms at Big Spring Intermediate and Moss Elementary School in Big Spring, Texas. The celebrations, held on Wednesday, May 13, marked another exciting milestone in expanding literacy opportunities for students in West Texas.
Big Spring Intermediate welcomed students into a vibrant “Road Trip Through Texas” themed reading room filled with Texas-themed decorations, engaging books, and spaces designed to spark imagination and adventure. At Moss Elementary School, students stepped into a warm and inviting “Growing with Books” themed room that encourages students to evolve and learn through their enjoyment of books.
Both openings were tremendous successes, and the excitement from students was palpable. Wide eyes, joyful smiles, and overwhelming glee filled the rooms as students eagerly searched through bookshelves looking for their next adventure.
Hundreds of students in West Texas now have welcoming spaces that nurture imagination and strengthen connections to reading. The impact of these reading rooms will continue to shape young readers for years to come as they explore new ideas, build literacy skills, and develop a lifelong love of reading.
