Creativity Shines Bright: Carson Scholars’ First-Ever Holiday Art Contest Unveils Stunning Talent!
This summer, after hearing feedback from our scholars about their love of art, the CSF held its first ever holiday art contest. Carson Scholars were encouraged to submit original artwork depicting a holiday theme. Any medium could be used and creativity was encouraged! The winner’s design would be featured on the CSF’s holiday card for donors, supporters and friends of the organization.
The art contest was a success with 18 Carson Scholars submitting artwork! Voting was tough as all of the submissions were unique, creative and well-done.
The winning design was created by Matthew Weeks, a 2024 Carson Scholar. Matthew holds a 4.0 GPA, was a member of the National Elementary Honor Society and was captain of his school’s Safety Patrol, a role that required him to manage a crew of 19 fellow patrollers. His favorite hobbies include building Legos, playing video games, traveling, fishing and spending time with his family. When he grows up, he aspires to be an architect because he likes to design things and draw blueprints.
Matthew’s design began with a picture he took of deer along the water while on vacation at Colt State Park in Rhode Island. He then added some winter elements to the photo for the CSF’s art contest.
Scholars – if you’re feeling creative, we encourage you to submit a design for our Valentine’s Day art contest. All mediums are considered and content should match the tagline “Your dedication makes the Carson Scholars Fund shine. Wishing you a Valentine’s Day filled with joy!” Artwork should be 5×7 inches and submitted as a PDF or JPEG to Lacey at lrichards@carsonscholars.org no later than December 31, 2024.
