Garden Road Elementary in Poway, California welcomed community members, local press, and Mrs. Candy Carson to their all-school assembly on Tuesday, February 4th, in celebration of the opening of their new Think Big reading room. The assembly started with prideful school spirit exhibited through the Garden Road cheer and character pledge. Following that, a handful of students were given the opportunity to perform a skit that recognized the importance of reading. Garden Road’s EmJ Alvarez presented Mrs. Candy Carson with a token of appreciation to show the school’s gratitude and admiration for the opportunity. After the assembly, attendees were led to the reading room where they found a cozy environment constructed with white picket fences, potted plants, white benches, faux grass, and a pillar decorated as a palm tree. A beautifully-crafted mural of a park assumed the wall space and books filled the shelves. This reading room is the 229th to be established by the CSF and the 31st to be funded by the Eleni and Wolfgang Gagon Trust.
