Jaida Boggerty

Jaida Boggerty was awarded a Carson Scholarship in 2011 when she was in fourth grade. She shared the impact the Carson Scholars Fund had on her, stating “being a Carson Scholar has remained a meaningful part of my journey, and I continue to carry those values into my work today.”

With a passion for education, service and community impact, Jaida earned her bachelor’s degree in biomedical science with a minor in chemistry from Western Michigan University in 2023. She also earned her master’s degree in public health from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 2026.

As a master’s in public heath student, Jaida completed a practicum for field experience. Her work on this project showcased how community health is connected to social and economic factors like workforce development and housing stability. The project specifically focused on rural communities, for which she conducted a needs assessment and result analysis of the qualitative and quantitative data collected. With this information and analysis, Jaida created a proposal for a construction apprenticeship model in effort to improve access to stable employment and affordable housing.

Jaida is currently the Executive Director of Collaborative Programs at the Michigan Workforce Training and Education Collaborative (MWTEC). In this role, she works to increase access to education and training, specifically in healthcare. Jaida works to strengthen workforce development and improve community health outcomes by fostering relationships between employers, education and the community. She is very passionate about helping underserved populations by creating opportunities and advancing health equity.

Volunteer work has consistently been an important part of Jaida’s life. Through her current volunteer work, she teaches high school students about the different careers and pathways within the field of healthcare. Jaida attends career fairs and job fairs, where she enjoys “helping [students] understand that there are many different ways to enter the workforce and what the path to college or training can look like.”

Jaida shares with current scholars, “You may not always realize the impact you have, but your actions matter. One step you take can inspire others to follow, and that is how change begins.”
