Joshua is a 2-time Carson Scholar and current student at UCLA, where he is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in physiological science. Joshua believes in supporting and building up the success of others – a belief that he puts into practice as a middle school Science Olympiad coach, a role he has held for five years. In high school, Joshua founded PIPS (Pressing Issues Publications and Service), a monthly newsletter and service club covering teen mental health and community issues. In 2022, he was named the Youth Volunteer of the Year in his city, was a National Merit finalist and was a TEDx speaker. He has also conducted and published research as a research intern in the University of Iowa Health Care Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and as a clinical research assistant in the Department of Orthopedics. In college, he serves as secretary of the UCLA Regents Scholars Society and has worked incredibly hard to earn a 97th percentile MCAT score. He aspires to become a physician and learn the art of healing to help alleviate the suffering of others.
