Urenna Acholonu

2026 Update: Urenna Acholonu is a dedicated Kinesiology major with a minor in psychology on the Pre-med track at Hampton University, where she maintains a 4.03 GPA and serves as both a Research Assistant and a Biology Teacher’s Assistant. A 2026 initiate of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Urenna balances her academic rigor with leadership as a Greer Dawson Wilson Student Leader, a STEM tutor , and the Founder and President of Virtuous Vines. Her commitment to healthcare is reflected in her certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant and her experience conducting cardiovascular research at the University of Maryland. Driven by a passion for service, she continues to invest in her community through international missions and local mentorship while preparing for a future career in medicine.

2025 Update: Urenna is a kinesiology major on the pre-med track at Hampton University, with a minor in psychology.  She is a committed tutor, researcher and community leader, with experience in cardiovascular health research and faith-based youth mentorship. Urenna co-founded and coaches a middle school step team, coaches youth cricket and leads the youth ministry at her church. As an aspiring physical medicine and rehabilitation physician, she is passionate about service, education, and advancing health equity in underrepresented communities.

2024: After noticing that her school planned various activities and field trips for English and arts classes but not for STEM classes, Urenna, along with a few classmates, decided to revive the Science National Honor Society at school.  She currently serves as the treasurer and helps fundraise for STEM-related trips and activities including trips to Johns Hopkins research labs and the National Museum of Health and Medicine.  Urenna also serves as a children’s Bible study leader at her church and the founder and leader of a step team for middle school students.  Due to her love for sports and medicine, she aspires to become a doctor specializing in sports medicine.
