Pin It Forward
Sponsor a Carson Scholar’s Pin and send a message they’ll remember.
There’s a moment every Carson Scholar remembers: the one where the work paid off and someone said, this is yours.
Somewhere out there, right now, there’s a student who’s going to become a Carson Scholar this year. They don’t know it yet, but you can already be in their corner.
Ten dollars puts a pin on that future scholar’s medal, and a note from you in their hands. The kind of note you’d have wanted to read during those formative years.
Every Carson Scholar earns a pin to add to the medal they received when they were first awarded the scholarship, symbolizing their continued commitment to academic excellence and service. For 30 days, you can sponsor a pin to help us in celebrating the next 30 years of Carson Scholars.
The note is the part they’ll remember. When you sponsor a pin, you’ll be able to add a short message to the scholar who receives it. One honest line of encouragement, acknowledgment, or congratulations from someone who’s been where they are can stay with a scholar for years to come. Not sure what to say? Don’t worry – we’ll provide some prompts to get you started.
This campaign runs from August 19 to September 18: from Candy Carson’s birthday through Dr. Ben Carson’s.
Scholar Pin Sponsorship Tiers
- One Scholar: $10
- Five Scholars: $50
- Ten Scholars: $100
- 30 for 30: $300

Every $10 covers one pin, in full, for one scholar. Our goal this season? A sponsored pin for every scholar we recognize this fall.
When the campaign closes, we’ll come back and tell you how far your gift reached: the pins sponsored, and the scholars who wear them proudly.
“Winning the Carson scholarship back in seventh grade has made me more confident all around, but especially as a student. It has shown me that my efforts are seen and are worthy of being honored! This was the first major award that I won, and I’m so incredibly proud of it. This award also helped me win other awards like the leading woman award of Harford County. People are thoroughly impressed by my 5-time Carson Scholar status and my original win and it continues to pay off to this day!”

“Winning the Carson Scholarship really enhanced my application to college. I am an 8-time recognized scholar and I believe that this was beneficial in showcasing my ambition and achievements.”

“Winning the Carson Scholarship showed me that my service and academic efforts mattered. As a 3-time Carson Scholar, I gained greater confidence in my ability to lead and pursue challenging opportunities. The scholarship also encouraged me to keep volunteering in hospitals, expand my HOSA chapter, and prepare for college at Rice University.”
