The Carson Scholars Fund empowers students through college scholarships, ongoing recognition, and reading initiatives that spark a lifelong love of learning.

Scholarship Program

The Carson Scholars Fund awards $1,000 college scholarships to students in grades 4–11 who excel academically and are dedicated to serving their communities. Scholars are recognized not only for their achievements inside the classroom, but also for their commitment to making a difference in the world around them.

The Ben Carson/Think Big Reading Project helps schools create inviting reading rooms where children can discover the joy of independent reading. These cozy, literacy-rich spaces are designed to make books exciting and accessible for every child while fostering a love of reading, learning, and imagination.

Patterson HBCU Scholarship 

The Patterson HBCU Scholarship is a pilot program of the Carson Scholars Fund that supports Carson Scholar alumni attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Created in partnership with author and philanthropist James Patterson, this scholarship helps future leaders continue their educations at institutions with a rich legacy of excellence.

 

$5,000 Scholarship

Renewable for up to three consecutive academic years for a maximum value of $20,000

24 Future Leaders 
have received a combined $255,000 to support their educations at HBCUs across the country.
