Carson Scholars Fund Receives $250,000 Matching Grant from the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Foundation to Support Maryland Students
Towson, MD – The Carson Scholars Fund is proud to announce a $250,000 matching grant from the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Foundation, Inc. This transformative investment will expand scholarship opportunities for promising Maryland students in grades 4-11. This significant commitment comes at a historic moment as CSF celebrates 30 years of honoring and supporting high-achieving, compassionate students across the nation.
The match goal was achieved thanks to the generosity of dedicated supporters who share the organization’s belief in fostering academic excellence and strong character in young leaders. The funds will be used exclusively to provide Carson Scholarships to Maryland students, ensuring that students across the state have meaningful opportunities to pursue higher education and develop into future innovators and changemakers.
What began in 1996 with just 25 scholarships in Maryland has now grown to 4,365 scholars across the state celebrated for their academic achievement and humanitarian qualities. Dr. and Mrs. Carson reflect, “When we started the Carson Scholars Fund three decades ago, we dreamed of creating opportunities for students who excel both in the classroom and in their communities. This extraordinary match, made possible by the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Foundation and so many dedicated supporters, strengthens that legacy. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Foundation for their partnership and commitment in helping young Maryland scholars reach their fullest potential.”
The Carson Scholars Fund was founded in 1994 by now retired, world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Benjamin S. Carson and his wife, Candy, to recognize and reward students who excel academically and demonstrate a strong commitment to serving their communities. Carson Scholars receive a scholarship award that can be applied toward college expenses and are celebrated at regional recognition events nationwide.
Carson Scholars from Maryland and the surrounding area will be celebrated at the 30th Annual Maryland Carson Scholars Award Ceremony on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at The HALL at Live! (7002 Arundel Mills Cir., Hanover, MD 21076).
