Empowering the next generation of leaders

The CSF Associate Leadership Council is a group of dedicated young professionals committed to advancing the Carson Scholars Fund’s mission. They engage alumni through newsletters, networking events and fundraising, while leveraging their connections to attract new supporters.

This summer, the ALC welcomed three new members:

Luke Anderson is currently studying biology and economics at Georgetown University. He aspires to become a physician leader, merging medical expertise with economic insight to tackle urgent global health challenges. With a focus on development economics and poverty alleviation, Luke aims to be a compassionate caregiver equipped to drive meaningful change. He is also the co-founder of Para Ti Global, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing children’s education.

Carson Scholar alumna Gitika Gorth, studies biomedical engineering (pre-med) and economics at Columbia University. Her research explores molecular mechanisms in gastrointestinal cancer, intending to develop drug treatments to reduce radiotherapy’s side effects. Beyond her studies, she founded IgnitedThinkers in eighth grade, a nonprofit that inspires and educates students worldwide about aerospace through innovative programs and resources.

Sarah Malko, a two-time Carson Scholar alumna, is a rising senior in neurobiology at UC San Diego, pursuing a premed track. She is deeply passionate about medicine and leads the Brain Executive Initiation team, organizing activities for Alzheimer’s patients in a senior home. Outside academics, Sarah loves Middle Eastern line dancing, trying out new cafes and swimming. Her diverse interests and leadership in patient care reflect her commitment to both science and community.

If you want to be at the forefront of supporting the next generation of scholars and alumni, we invite you to learn more about the ALC. While alumni scholars are encouraged to apply, participation is open to anyone passionate about the CSF’s goals. Please contact Lacey Richards at lrichards@carsonscholars.org for more information.
