On September 26, 2019 the Dalewood Middle School Blue Knights opened their castle-themed reading room to adventurous lords and ladies. The Dalewood Middle School reading room features an ornate medieval castle where students can travel back to a forgotten age where chivalry and bravery abound. The Ben Carson Reading Room at Dalewood Middle School is sponsored by The Rotary Club of Downtown Chattanooga. “Promoting literacy is a major initiative of the Rotary Club of Chattanooga,” said Club President Charlie Arant. “We are extremely proud to sponsor the creation of a special room and fill it with hundreds of exciting books for students to explore. We believe that spaces like this help students to become lifetime readers and learners.”
Special thanks to: The Rotary Club of Downtown Chattanooga for sponsoring the reading room; Taunya and Steve Mowery for constructing and decorating the castle; and muralist Gale Hinton for creating a masterpiece.
