Each November, during American Education Week, the CSF celebrates the National Day of Reading with school partners. The event is designed to raise awareness of the importance of everyday, leisure reading. Dr. Ben Carson credits reading as being the catalyst to his success and he hopes to share this message with students. Past celebrations include special guests narrating books. In addition to the book narration, schools are encouraged to invite community leaders, elected officials, room sponsors or former educators to serve as guest readers.
For students not attending a reading room school, the National Day of Reading book narration and materials will be accessible on the CSF website. The 19th Annual National Day of Reading will be held on November 18, 2024.
