In the 2011-2012 school year, students read 27,600 minutes in their Ben Carson Reading Room. Coordinators at the school said, “The teachers have found that students that might not want to read in a classroom will more readily read in the reading room. Anytime a child reads especially if it is voluntary they get a little closer to their lifetime goals.”
The Edgewood Elementary School Reading room sponsored by Stack & Store opened on October 15, 2003. They hosted many unique programs including PTA reading programs, Dr. Seuss’ Birthday celebration, and a summer reading program.
