North Forestville Elementary School’s Ben Carson Reading Room: Not 1 or 2, but 5!!

The North Forestville Elementary School is the first school in the history of the Carson Scholars Fund to install 5 Ben Carson Think Big Reading Rooms in one!!

As the students first enter the very roomy “nest” created to nurture young Forestville Falcons, there’s plenty of space for the students (falcons) to gather at tables with a personal colorful flower placemat at each seat…or spread out and sprawl about to get comfortable on a bean bag chair or hexagonal ottoman with the book of their choice!  The eager falcon readers also have the options to venture into the “great beyond”, spread their wings and select an even cozier spot to relax in, passing thru the Hall of Hope into any of the 4 other themed rooms:

1- a lush rainforest with friendly branches reaching down in welcome

2- an aloha adventure (with Hawaiian scenery)

3- an underwater wonderland with fish swimming overhead or

4- a fun fox fantasy spot

This is the second reading room to open in Prince George’s County.  Both have been sponsored by the Pohanka Automotive Group; the first one, John Bayne Elementary having the distinction of also being the 300th reading room to be established in the country!  Pohanka Automotive Group Chairman and CEO Geoffrey Pohanka shared remarks and several coworkers from the company who volunteer at the school were in attendance as well.

Also present were: PGCPS Instructional Director Ebony Shields, PGCPS Director of Community Schools Dr. Ingrid Williams-Horton, Delegate Kym Taylor, Delegate Karen Toles, Delegate Kevin Harris and Delegate Denise Roberts.
