From Fairways to Futures: Pittsburgh Chapter Golf Tournament
The Annual Pittsburgh Golf Tournament was held on September 29th at the prestigious Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh Chapter President Fran Donahue and Chapter members raised over $60,000 for Pittsburgh scholars. Prior to the shotgun start, Pittsburgh Chapter Member Jim Beck and Candy Carson spoke to the golfers and lunch guests about the importance of literacy and how Ben Carson Reading Rooms are providing opportunities for young students to become proficient and enthusiastic readers. Their impassioned speech resulted in commitments to create two reading rooms in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area. Next, Dr. Carson took to the microphone and provided an inspirational speech before wishing the golfers good luck on the greens. Plans are already underway for the 2025 Pittsburgh Golf Tournament. Mark the date of September 28, 2025, to be a part of this thrilling tournament.
