On Friday, January 17th, students at Discovery Elementary in San Marcos, CA were ‘Reading under the Stars’ in their new Think Big reading room. The reading room, sponsored by the Eleni and Wolfgang Gagon Trust, is the 28th Gagon reading room to be established to date. The reading room is decorated with a beautiful hand-painted mural depicting a starry-night sky. A tepee, along with picnic tables, brass telescopes, vintage lanterns and star decorations throughout, entice young readers to explore the school’s expansive Think Big book collection. The opening day ceremony started off with a welcoming from Principal Daphne A. Eby followed by a word from project leader and innovation specialist, Marla Rosenthal. Thereafter, a poem was read by the student council president and a song performed by the school’s chorus rounded out the celebration. The opening day ceremony concluded with a tour of the room. Discovery’s reading room is the 225th reading room to be established by the CSF.
