Carl & Louis Stokes Central Academy is the first Ben Carson Reading Room to open in the state of Ohio!
On May 23rd, 2012 students at Carl & Louis Stokes Central Academy were extremely excited to see what was waiting behind the door of their new reading room. The only clue was Dr. Carson’s picture that welcomed them. The school held a ceremony before unveiling their new reading room, which included the faculty and administration, students, and members of the community to celebrate the special addition to Carl & Louis Stokes Central Academy.
Former Congressman Louis Stokes shared a few inspiring words and donated a book to the room. Dr. Carson sent a videotaped message about his personal story and the role reading played in his life, which was followed by Mrs. Candy Carson, who added a few additional words and read a book to a group of students in their new reading room.
Also on hand for the ribbon cutting was Ms. Susanna Krey, president of Sisters of Charity of Cleveland, which sponsored the Ben Carson Reading Room. A special thanks to the Sisters of Charity of Cleveland, who sponsored Ohio’s first Ben Carson Reading Room and everyone who made this room possible!
