The students of Fairmount Elementary couldn’t wait any longer to see their new Ben Carson Reading Room on May 4, 2012.
Local community members, staff, parents, and students were on hand to attend the opening ceremony of their new reading room, which was one of three rooms opened in Kansas City sponsored by The Hearst Foundations.
Principal Jeff Anger led the welcoming remarks at the school’s ceremony, followed by a video from Dr. Carson. He shared with the students of Fairmount how reading influenced him to be a better student.
After the ribbon cutting, Fairmount students entered their new Ben Carson Reading Room. With hundreds of books and a fun, but cozy environment, students are sure to discover a story that will captivate them.
