Munroe Elementary School

Denver, CO

booksYou’ll “go bananas” the minute you step into the magical Munroe Elementary School jungle. While reading is the goal, young students can’t help but succumb to a little “monkey business” during their visit. You can hardly blame them when there are monkeys on the walls watching their every move! Students can grab gorgeous new books and duck under a massive leaf to find a comfy seat and get lost in a story. The room is truly magical. In fact, if you really listen, you can hear the birds, crickets and frogs sharing the space. Principal Abigail Brown and Adrianne Oliver worked their special magic to make this room a reality in their school.

The Ben Carson Reading Room at Munroe Elementary School opened on October 18, 2011. Munroe is one of five Denver Reading Rooms, all opening on the same day! These five rooms were made possible by a generous donation from the Richard Lumsden Foundation. They are also the first Ben Carson Reading Rooms in the state of Colorado. Special thanks to the Richard Lumsden Foundation for making this dream a reality and for investing in the future of today’s children!
