Paul I. Miller School 114

Indianapolis, IN

ˆ

It was a special day for students in Indianapolis! IPS 114 was one of two Ben Carson Reading Rooms to open in the area on June 7th, 2012. Students were excited to see the progress of their new reading room. The school held a Ben Carson Reading Room Dedication Ceremony where Principal Marjorie Lindeman welcomed students, faculty, friends, and family. The ceremony was a great way to encourage students to find new adventures in reading. Students performed a variety of inspirational songs including “Man in the Mirror,” “Listen,” and “Beautiful.”

The audience also heard from Mrs. Carson and Dr. George Rausch from Indiana University School of Medicine. The message was a powerful one about how reading can influence a student for life. School 114 students responded enthusiastically.

Dr. Carson also provided a videotaped message inspiring the students to THINK BIG while reading their favorite books in their new Ben Carson Reading Room. During the dedication ceremony, students enjoyed a special treat from local performer Nue Breed and School 114 Dance Troupe joined him!

Since the opening ceremony in June 2012, the school has put on the finishing touches. To celebrate the completion of the room, the school hosted an open house on September 20, 2012.

A special thanks to Indiana University School of Medicine for sponsoring this Ben Carson Reading Room!
