2010 Scholars Summer Celebration!

The Maryland Science Center was the setting for the Carson Scholars Fund’s 4th Annual Scholar Summer Celebration. Scholars and Alumni from all over Maryland and surrounding areas came together for the opportunity to network and show their support for the newly graduated Carson Scholars.

The event kicked off with a speech by Andrew Greene, a five time Carson Scholar, which stressed to the scholars the importance of staying connected.  Guest speaker and 1996 Carson Scholar, Charles Prahl, Policy Analyst for the Department of Homeland Security shared some of his college experiences and spoke on the importance of staying involved in public service activities and giving back to the community.

Dr. Carson inspired the graduating seniors to think outside of the box, and stay focused on academic goals throughout their college careers. Bowen Jiang  2004 Carson Scholar and second year medical student at Stanford School of Medicine expressed the importance of striving for academic excellence. Candy Carson distributed college-specific prizes to the newly graduated seniors.

Following the speakers, the guests viewed the IMAX movie, To the Limit. The film reinforced the speakers’ messages about the importance of hard work, determination, and pushing oneself to the limit. Thanks to all who attended the event for making it such a success, and stay tuned for event pictures and video.
